Recent Purchase - KT-009 Skeleton Warrior Iron Rust Edition

In the mail, all the way from the land of atomic breathing lizards and giant flying reptiles, the Skeleton Warrior (Iron Rust Edition).

Again, not a miniature per se, but a display model that the Japanese love so much. At about 150mm tall, however, he's a great addition to my undead Sengoku Period army as a Gashadokuro - a skeletal giant from Japanese mythology. With some creative basing work, he should be looking like he could take on Godzilla himself!

Recent Purchase - Boss Fight Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S.

Just recently purchased two figures from the Boss Fight Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. line. One Skeleton Warrior and one combination set of a standard Skeleton and Aged Steel Accessory Pack B.

These aren't miniatures per se, but rather a line of highly customizable action figures. But at just under 100mm tall, with a little painting, they will make excellent giant hoplites to fight in my undead Classical Greek army. My skeletal titan from Ral Partha needed some company and I stumbled across these while doing a google image search for undead hoplites. (I always like to browse google images to see when something new pops up). So now I have two units of giants - one of giant Cyclopes and one of human hoplites. More flexibility!

These figures are highly customizable and I love the armour available, especially the Athenian helm with the transverse crest. It will look excellent painted in bronze and washed to achieve the verdigris effect.

WIP - Skeleton Snake Men

Doing some work on these wonderful skeleton snake men sculpted by Tim Prow from Die Hard Miniatures. They produce four separate snake men, which will eventually appear in my undead lizard man contingent, but because I can't stay away from my armies of antiquity - I got a few extra to convert into figures for my undead Classical Greek army, starting with an undead Cecrops I.

Here are the individual figs out of the pack:

After zenithal priming:

Basecoated in Thar Brown and Decayed Metal by Scale Colour:

Bone parts washed with GW's Agrax Earthshade:

Verdigris effect created using GW's Nihilakh Oxide technical paint. I love that stuff!

And here is the progression of Cecrops I. Cecrops was the mythical first king of Athens who is portrayed as half man and half snake. This is a simple head swap using the helmed skull from the (recently defunct) Spartan Games Heroes of Myth & Legend Skeletons. It was fortuitous that I had some extra blisters of these skeletons, because the snake men are ogre sized and a 28mm skull is too small, while a 54mm skull is too big. The Spartan Games minis were in an unusual 40mm size - which actually made a perfect match with the snake men!

Finally

Looks like Marrow Productions is getting around to putting together the undead samurai forces from their 2013 Kickstarter.

But as they say: better late than never.

And it's a nice looking sculpt. What I didn't realize is that it is about 60mm tall. So really I will be using it as a Gashadukoro in my undead samurai army.

Let's hope the rest of the line is as nice.

This Is SPARTA!

Terrific new sculpts from Phillip Hynes on Kickstarter. I am just so impressed by this guy. Especially since he doesn't do this for a living.

He previewed some of these sculpts earlier on his Facebook page, but I thought he was doing a commission for some else. But nope! We can get them now. The Kickstarter is not all undead, but it does include these five lovely skeletal Spartans. With more apparently coming in the stretch goals. Another unit for the phalanx! (Even though I really style my phalanx more as Thebans. After all, Epaminondas is my homeboy)

Dirty Little Hobbitses!

Well, the big Kickstarter is here. After several smaller ones, John McManis is asking for crowd funding for the big core hand weapon/spear units of undead Halflings! Nice!

But what weapons would Hobbits really use?

New Dragons Coming Online

Well, Reaper's new Kickstarter. Bones IV, is up today. Over $623,000 on the first day. Insane.  And now, I have to kick in some more of my hard earned cash because of this lovely model. A new zombie dragon sculpted by Julie Guthrie:

That is looking mighty sweet. Hopefully, there're a good deal more skellies in the Kickstarter as well.

Soon I'm expecting delivery of this amazing sculpt by Tim Prow for Fenris Miniatures. The green has been languishing for years until Fenris finally brought it to life with its successful Rise of the Draugr Kickstarter.

The next models haven't been sculpted yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting them based on the concept art. A zombie dragon, and two undead wyverns (Shrieking Horror and Court of the Damned). All part of TMS miniatures' successful Vampire Covenant Kickstarter in June. They did a pretty good job at translating the concept art to actual model for their Undying Dynasties Indiegogo, so I'm hoping these will turn out as good. I like the way the Court of the Damned model (a 9th Age analog for GW's Mortis Engine) incorporates the wyvern as the motor for the war machine.
